About the G-P100 Direct Box
The Direct Box (DI) is the essential link between instruments and professional sound systems, whether on stage or in the studio. Its main function is to convert high-impedance, unbalanced signals (such as those from guitars, basses, keyboards, and synthesizers) into balanced, low-impedance signals, ideal for long connections without loss of quality, noise, or interference.
But not all DIs are created equal:
In premium models like our G-P100 equipped with mu-metal core transformers, sonic performance reaches another level. Mu-metal—a metallic alloy with very high magnetic permeability—offers exceptional shielding and linear response, drastically reducing induced noise and unwanted harmonic distortions. The result is a clean and natural signal, preserving every original nuance of the instruments.
How it works
The Direct Box acts as an isolator and impedance adapter. The instrument signal enters a primary coil of the transformer and is transferred to the secondary coil by magnetic induction — without direct electrical contact.
This separation eliminates ground loops, noise, and potential differences between equipment. The mu-metal transformer, in addition to ensuring this isolation with precision, provides a wide and balanced frequency response, with solid bass, defined mids, and smooth highs.
Functions and features
• Signal conversion: transforms the high-impedance signal (instrument) into a low-impedance signal (microphone/console).
• Total galvanic isolation: eliminates noise and ground interference.
• Balanced XLR output: ideal for professional connections on stage and in the studio.
• Ground lift: interrupts the ground path to eliminate hum and loops.
Premium quality
The heart of this direct box is the encapsulated mu-metal transformer, carefully tuned to offer sonic transparency and musical response.
While conventional models use steel or ferrite, mu-metal offers superior shielding against electromagnetic fields and faithful reproduction of natural harmonics, making it the preferred choice of demanding sound engineers and studio musicians who don't compromise on quality.
Each component is rigorously selected: high-conductivity connectors, a shielded metal chassis, and robust construction ensure reliability for touring and professional recordings.
The result is a direct box that not only fulfills its technical function—but also enriches the timbre, providing unparalleled depth, definition, and musicality.
